Lucasfilm Updates Star Wars Galaxy Map, and Fans Are Nerding Out Over Its New Locations and Lore

Star Wars enthusiasts celebrate as Lucasfilm revives its ambitious initiative to chart the saga’s universe, unveiling an incredibly detailed map featuring over 500 planets.

Curious about the distance between Tatooine and Hoth? Wondering just how concealed Yoda was while hiding in Dagobah’s swamp? Or trying to gauge Jakku’s proximity to the galactic core? The answers are now available for exploration.

The mysterious Unknown Regions have been further charted, revealing Exegol—the Sith stronghold from The Rise of Skywalker. This is the world Rey had to navigate by holding a lightsaber up to the horizon and infiltrating an ancient Death Star to reach. With this map in hand, that film’s plot might have seemed much clearer.

Not every known Star Wars world appears on this chart. Key exclusions involve extragalactic locations outside the main galaxy, such as Kamino—the clone factory planet—and Peridea from Ahsoka, which is set in a completely different galaxy.

Lucasfilm plans to update the map regularly with periodic revisions and will release specialized regional charts for high-density areas like the Inner Rim, Colonies, Core Worlds, and Deep Core.
