Major Ubisoft Updates:

Ubisoft Halts Assassin's Creed Shadows Early Access and Disbands Prince of Persia Team

Ubisoft has announced several significant changes impacting its upcoming titles. The early access release for Assassin's Creed Shadows, previously slated for Collector's Edition purchasers, has been canceled. This decision, alongside a delay to the game's February 14, 2025 launch date (for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S), follows reports of challenges in ensuring historical accuracy and cultural representation. The Collector's Edition price has also been reduced from $280 to $230. While unconfirmed, rumors suggest a potential future co-op mode featuring both antagonists, Naoe and Yasuke.

Furthermore, Ubisoft has dissolved the development team behind Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Despite positive critical reception, the decision stems from the game failing to meet internal sales expectations. While specific sales figures remain undisclosed, Ubisoft has acknowledged disappointment with the title's performance. Senior producer Abdelhak Elguess emphasized the team's pride in their work and confirmed the game's post-launch content roadmap is complete, with plans to expand its platform availability to include Mac by winter. Ubisoft remains committed to future Prince of Persia projects.
