Marvel Easter Egg Fuels Speculation on Upcoming Superhero

Marvel Rivals: Wong's Potential Appearance Sparks Fan Speculation

A recent trailer for Marvel Rivals' new Sanctum Sanctorum map has ignited speculation among players about the potential addition of Wong to the game's roster. The trailer briefly shows a painting of Doctor Strange's mystical ally, Wong, fueling excitement within the community. This discovery, highlighted by Reddit user fugo_hate on r/marvelrivals, comes as the game enjoys immense popularity, boasting over 10 million players within its first 72 hours.

Season 1, titled "Eternal Night," launches January 10th and features Dracula as the main antagonist. This supernatural theme has led to anticipation for characters like Blade, and it's confirmed that the Fantastic Four (including their villainous counterparts, the Maker and Malice as skins) will join the playable roster.

The Wong painting in the Sanctum Sanctorum map, heavily referencing the MCU, is interpreted by some as a significant clue. While it could simply be a cameo, the possibility of a playable Wong, with his unique magical abilities, is highly appealing to many. Wong's popularity has skyrocketed thanks to Benedict Wong's MCU portrayal, and he's previously appeared in various Marvel games, though not always as a playable character.

Despite the speculation, the Sanctum Sanctorum map is rife with Marvel universe references. Season 1's launch this week will bring three new locations, a new Doom Match mode, and the arrival of Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman. Whether Wong will eventually join the fight remains to be seen, but the possibility alone has generated significant buzz among Marvel Rivals players.
