Marvel Is Exploring Ways to Reunite The Defenders

by Elijah Mar 06,2025

Daredevil's highly anticipated next season is on the horizon, and the creative team is already brainstorming future possibilities, including a potential Defenders reunion.

In a recent EW profile, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' head of streaming and TV, expressed keen interest in reuniting the street-level heroes of Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist—The Defenders.

While nothing is confirmed, Winderbaum stated, "It's certainly exciting to play in that sandbox... Obviously, we don't have unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book, where if you can draw it, you can do it. We're dealing with actors, time constraints, and the massive scale of production needed to build a cinematic universe, especially for television."

He continued, "But I can say that, considering all these factors, it's creatively extremely exciting and something we're actively exploring."

PlayDaredevil: Born Again will directly continue the Netflix Daredevil storyline. Netflix previously hosted a smaller-scale Marvel universe with shows like Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. Winderbaum's comments suggest Daredevil: Born Again could serve as a springboard to revive these characters on Disney+ under Disney's creative direction. The inclusion of Jon Bernthal's Punisher in the new season already marks another successful transition of a Netflix hero.

The upcoming premiere of Daredevil: Born Again on March 4th will be crucial in determining how the series might integrate into the broader MCU. Until then, further speculation on the Defenders' return remains just that—speculation.
