Marvel Rivals Rank Reset Mid-Season Proves Too Controversial, Prompting Reversal
Dive into the latest developments in Marvel Rivals as the game reverses its controversial player rank reset decision following fan feedback. Stay informed about the upcoming changes and future updates.
Marvel Rivals Reverses Player Rank Reset Decision
Dev Talk 11: Updates on Seasonal Rank Adjustments
Following a wave of fan complaints, Marvel Rivals has announced a significant change to its seasonal rank system. The official Marvel Rivals Twitter (X) account released an update reversing the previously announced mid-season rank reset.
In Dev Talk 10, the game had proposed a reset that would drop players four divisions every 45 days, sparking concerns among the community about the discouragement this could cause for those striving to climb the ranks. Responding to the feedback, Dev Talk 11 confirmed that there will be no mid-season rank reset. Players will now keep their scores and ranks from the first half of the season. However, end-of-season resets will still occur, with players dropping six divisions.
Exciting Updates: Human Torch, The Thing, and More
Despite the change in rank reset policy, Marvel Rivals continues to roll out exciting content. The introduction of new heroes, Human Torch and The Thing, remains on track, bringing the total roster to 39 heroes. NetEase Games has committed to adding two new characters each season, with each season spanning three months.
Rewards for players reaching Gold rank and above will stay the same, with those at this level receiving a free Invisible Woman costume. Players ranked Grandmaster and above will earn Crests of Honor. At the end of the season, new rewards will be available for those achieving Gold rank, including another free costume and additional Crests of Honor for Grandmaster and above ranks.
Balance adjustments are also on the horizon following the mid-season update, though specific details have yet to be disclosed.
Marvel Rivals' Commitment to Community Feedback
The swift response from Marvel Rivals to the community's backlash showcases their dedication to player satisfaction. Just hours after the initial announcement in Dev Talk 10, the team addressed the concerns and released Dev Talk 11.
Marvel Rivals emphasized their commitment to improving the game based on community input, stating, "We strive to make Marvel Rivals the best game it can be, and the community is the driving force behind this mission! [...] Your engagement and support mean the world to us, and we're excited to continue this journey together!"
The next Marvel Rivals mid-season update is scheduled for February 21, 2025. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates and more information, visit our dedicated Marvel Rivals page.
