The Parabolic Microphone falls under the category of Optional Equipment in *Phasmophobia*, which means it's not automatically included in your starting gear. To get your hands on this useful tool, you'll need to reach a specific level and then purchase it from the in-game Shop.

Like other equipment in *Phasmophobia*, the Parabolic Microphone comes in three tiers, each offering improved quality and reliability. To unlock the first tier, you must reach Level 7 and then head to the shop to add it to your equipment loadout.

The second tier becomes available at Level 31 and will set you back $3,000 for the upgrade. The third and final tier unlocks at Level 72, costing $5,000. Once unlocked, you can choose any tier of the Parabolic Microphone and equip up to two in your loadout, regardless of your team size.

Keep in mind, if you decide to Prestige your character, resetting to Level 1 means you'll have to unlock each tier of the Parabolic Microphone all over again, just like with all other equipment.

To utilize the Parabolic Microphone during your ghost-hunting contracts in *Phasmophobia*, you'll need to add it to your loadout through the Shop portal, ensuring it's available in the truck when you arrive at the location. Note that in Challenge Mode, the preset loadout might not include the Parabolic Microphone.

Once on-site, grab the Parabolic Microphone from the equipment wall in the truck to equip it. Use the designated button to activate or deactivate it. If you're using the tier 3 version, you'll benefit from an attached radar screen that helps pinpoint the direction of the sounds (as shown above).

The Parabolic Microphone is particularly useful on medium or large maps in *Phasmophobia*. It allows you to track the ghost's location by listening for sounds such as objects being thrown, doors moving, or the ghost's voice, offering an alternative to traditional methods like using a temperature gauge or EMF Reader.

Not only does it help in locating the ghost, but it can also assist in completing Optional Objectives that require capturing the ghost's voice. Additionally, certain ghosts like the Deogen or Banshee produce unique sounds that can only be detected with the Parabolic Microphone, providing crucial clues for identifying these specific ghost types.
