Monster Hunter Wilds Adds Real-Money Microtransactions
Capcom has unveiled an exciting new feature in Monster Hunter Wilds that lets players tweak the look of their hunters and Palicos. Initially, you can make your first edit for free, but any further changes will require you to buy Character Edit Vouchers. These vouchers come in packs of three for $6 or as a comprehensive set for both your hunter and Palico for $10. Without these vouchers, your customization options are limited to just hairstyles, eyebrow color, makeup, and clothing—leaving core facial features untouched.

Interestingly, this monetization strategy wasn't mentioned during the game's early previews before its official launch. Capcom only revealed this last week through their social media channels. Despite sparking debates around microtransactions and facing some performance hiccups, Monster Hunter Wilds smashed records, boasting over 1.3 million concurrent players on Steam right out of the gate.
As of now, Capcom hasn't responded to the community's feedback on this new paid customization system. Fans have voiced their discontent, drawing unfavorable comparisons to earlier games in the series where appearance modifications were either free or could be earned through in-game currency. Many in the community believe that this move detracts from what has traditionally been seen as a core aspect of the franchise.
