MrBeast and the CEO of Roblox Are Trying to Buy TikTok for Over $20 Billion

MrBeast, the popular YouTuber, is reportedly part of a consortium aiming to acquire TikTok for over $20 billion. Bloomberg reports that this group, which includes MrBeast, Jesse Tinsley (founder of Employer.com), Roblox co-founder and CEO David Baszucki, and Nathan McCauley (head of Anchorage Digital), estimates the purchase price at $25 billion.

While TikTok's owner, ByteDance, has stated its U.S. operations are not for sale, and the Tinsley-led group hasn't received a direct response, MrBeast's representatives confirm he's engaged in discussions with various parties. He's expressed interest in joining the leading bidder, suggesting potential shifts in alliances depending on the unfolding situation. A January 22nd tweet from MrBeast indicated his excitement about the possibility, hinting at significant developments.

Earlier this week, President Trump mentioned Microsoft's involvement in potential TikTok acquisition talks, anticipating a bidding war. Microsoft hasn't confirmed this.

Prior to a January 19th deadline, a legal challenge by TikTok, citing First Amendment rights, was rejected by the Supreme Court. This led to a temporary shutdown for TikTok's 170 million U.S. users, stemming from national security concerns regarding its Chinese ownership. The Supreme Court acknowledged common data practices but emphasized TikTok's scale and vulnerability to foreign influence, justifying its unique treatment. Service was restored following assurances from President Trump that penalties would be avoided. TikTok subsequently issued a statement supporting the First Amendment and expressing its willingness to collaborate with President Trump on a long-term solution.

Following his inauguration on January 20th, President Trump issued an executive order delaying enforcement of the relevant law by 75 days. He's actively engaged in discussions with numerous entities and individuals regarding a potential TikTok sale, including Elon Musk.
