Let the demon hunting begin. Netflix is bringing the iconic video game series Devil May Cry to life with an exciting new anime adaptation, and fans finally got a sneak peek with a brand new trailer released by the streaming giant. Adding to the excitement, the legendary late voice actor Kevin Conroy will posthumously star in this eagerly awaited game adaptation.

Conroy, celebrated for his iconic portrayal of Bruce Wayne and Batman in numerous animated films and TV shows, takes on the role of VP Baines, a new character introduced in the series. His voice can be heard in the opening of the trailer, adding a poignant touch to the project.

PlayBack in July 2024, Conroy's posthumous performance in Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part 3 received widespread acclaim, making his role in Devil May Cry even more special for fans mourning his loss since his passing in November 2022 at the age of 66. Joining Conroy in the cast are Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary, Hoon Lee as White Rabbit, Chris Coppola as Enzo, and Johnny Yong Bosch lending his voice to the protagonist, Dante.

According to the official synopsis from Netflix, “Sinister forces are at play to open the portal between the human and demon realms. In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck.”

Adi Shankar, known for his work on the 2012 Judge Dredd reboot film Dredd, the Brad Pitt starrer Killing Them Softly, and the Ryan Reynolds film The Voices, will serve as the showrunner for the series. Shankar is also set to executive produce an adaptation of Assassin’s Creed, though its long-awaited release remains uncertain since its announcement in 2017.

The production of Devil May Cry is in the capable hands of Studio Mir, a renowned South Korean studio with a portfolio that includes acclaimed projects like The Legend of Korra and X-Men ‘97. Fans can mark their calendars for the series' release on Netflix on April 3, 2025.
