Netflix has officially teamed up with the creators of the critically acclaimed game Sifu to transform its compelling story into a cinematic experience. Initially announced in 2022, the film adaptation was being crafted by Story Kitchen in collaboration with Sloclap, the game's developer. However, as per recent updates from Deadline, the production team has now grown even more robust.

Netflix has enlisted T.S. Nowlin, the creative mind behind the Maze Runner series and Netflix's Project Adam, to write the screenplay. While Derek Kolstad, who was initially involved in adapting Sifu's narrative, may still have a role, his current involvement in the project remains uncertain.

The project's prestige is further elevated with the addition of Chad Stahelski, renowned for directing the John Wick franchise, and his production company 87Eleven Entertainment, who will serve as executive producers. Stahelski is also currently working on the adaptation of another high-profile video game, Ghost of Tsushima.

Since its launch in 2022, Sifu has achieved remarkable success, selling over one million copies in just three weeks. The game tells the story of a young martial artist on a quest for vengeance following their master's murder. Equipped with a mystical pendant that grants resurrection at the expense of aging the protagonist several years, the journey through a perilous world of danger and intrigue unfolds.
