Nexon: KartRider: Drift Goes Global Offline
Nexon has announced the global shutdown of KartRider: Drift, the mobile, console, and PC racing game launched in January 2023. This closure affects all global platforms, but notably excludes the Asian servers in Taiwan and South Korea.
Will Asian Servers Also Shut Down?
No. The Asian versions will remain operational, although Nexon plans to revamp them. Details regarding these changes remain undisclosed. Similarly, there's no official date for the global shutdown, though the game is currently still available on the Google Play Store.
Reasons for Global Shutdown:
Despite efforts to provide a seamless global experience, KartRider: Drift faced significant challenges. Player feedback highlighted frustration with excessive automation, leading to repetitive gameplay. Further compounding the issue were technical problems, including subpar optimization on certain Android devices and numerous bugs. Ultimately, the game fell short of expectations, prompting Nexon to refocus their efforts.
Nexon's strategy now centers on the Korean and Taiwanese PC versions, aiming to revitalize the original game vision.
