Nintendo Alarm Clock Drops Before GTA 6

Surprise! Nintendo's 2024 lineup just got a quirky addition: the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo. This interactive alarm clock, priced at $99, isn't your average morning wake-up call. Alongside this announcement, Nintendo also revealed a mysterious Switch Online playtest.

The Alarmo uses game sounds from titles like Mario, Zelda, and Splatoon to rouse you from slumber. The alarm's unique feature? It only silences when you fully leave your bed, rewarding your morning triumph with a virtual fanfare. Setup is simple: choose a game, select a scene, set your wake-up time, and let the interactive fun begin. Waving your hand near the clock will temporarily lower the volume, but prolonged bed-dwelling will only increase the alarm's intensity.

Nintendo employs a radio wave sensor to detect movement. This technology measures distance and speed without video recording, ensuring enhanced privacy. Its radio wave nature allows functionality in dark rooms and through obstacles. Nintendo developer Tetsuya Akama highlighted the sensor's sensitivity to even subtle movements.

Exclusive early access for Nintendo Switch Online members in the US and Canada is available via the My Nintendo Store for a limited time. The Nintendo New York store will also offer in-person purchases at launch.

Nintendo Switch Online Playtest Announced

Applications Open October 10th!

Nintendo announced a Switch Online playtest, with applications opening October 10th, 8:00 AM PT / 11:00 AM ET, and closing October 15th, 7:59 AM PT / 10:59 AM ET. Up to 10,000 participants will be selected. International participants (excluding Japan) will be chosen on a first-come, first-served basis. The playtest itself runs from October 23rd to November 5th.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership as of October 9th, 2024, 3:00 PM PDT.
• At least 18 years of age as of October 9th, 2024, 3:00 PM PDT.
• Nintendo Account registered in Japan, USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, or Spain.
