Nintendo and Piggyback Bringing Metroid Series Into Perspective
Covering Metroid Prime 1-3
Nintendo and the renowned guidebook publisher Piggyback are joining forces to launch a comprehensive Metroid Prime art book this Summer 2025. This collaboration also includes Retro Studios, the developers behind the Metroid Prime series, who will contribute detailed insights into the 20-year journey of the game's development.
The "Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective" art book will feature an array of "drawings, sketches, and assorted illustrations from the Metroid Prime Series," as stated on Piggyback’s website. This book is not just a visual treat but also a deep dive into the development process of Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and Metroid Prime Remastered.
In addition to the stunning artwork and developer sketches, the art book will include:
- A foreword by Kensuke Tanabe, the producer of Metroid Prime
- Introductions to each game penned by Retro Studios
- Anecdotes, commentaries, and insights from the producers on the artwork
- A premium stitch-bound art book on sheet-fed art paper, encased in a cloth hardcover with Samus etched in metallic foil
- Available in a single (Hardcover) Edition
Spanning 212 pages, this art book offers readers an exclusive look at the creation process and the inspirations behind these four games. Priced at £39.99 / €44.99 / A$74.95, it is a must-have for fans. Keep an eye on Piggyback’s website for availability updates, as it is not yet available for purchase.
Nintendo’s Past Collaboration with Piggyback
This collaboration is not the first between Piggyback and Nintendo. Previously, Piggyback produced official guides for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, aiding players in exploring Hyrule, collecting every item, and completing all quests.
These guides provided comprehensive information, including Korok seed locations, weapon and armor details, and even covered the DLCs for Breath of the Wild, such as The Master Trials and The Champions’ Ballad.
While the upcoming Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective is not an official guide, Piggyback's expertise in creating visually stunning and informative content, as seen in their Zelda guides, will undoubtedly enhance the quality of this new art book.
