"Nintendo Reveals Pricey Upgrades for Switch 2 Games"

Nintendo has unveiled the pricing for upgrading two more games from their original Switch versions to the enhanced Switch 2 Editions: Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree. However, these upgrades come with a hefty price tag.

While it costs $9.99 each to upgrade The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom from the original Switch to the Switch 2 Edition, NintendoLife has reported that the upgrades for both Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree are significantly more expensive, more than doubling the cost per upgrade.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild boasts improved visuals and performance, achievements, and integrates with the new "Zelda Notes" service on the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original Switch version of Breath of the Wild can access these enhancements by purchasing an "upgrade pack" for $10.

The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land introduces new story content in the "Star-Crossed World." Meanwhile, Super Mario Party Jamboree’s Switch 2 Edition features a new "Jamboree TV" suite, leveraging the Joy-Con 2's mouse controls, the Switch 2's microphone, and a separately sold USB-C camera. Additionally, this version supports up to 1440p resolution in TV mode, improved frame rates, new minigames, and enhanced online functions.

While U.S. prices are not yet available on the American Nintendo eShop—possibly due to uncertainties related to President Trump's tariffs—the UK Nintendo eShop lists the Kirby and the Forgotten Land upgrade pack at £16.99 / €19.99, which is more than twice the £7.99 / €9.99 charged for upgrading either Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom.

The same pricing applies to the Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV upgrade, suggesting a U.S. price of $19.99. This elevated upgrade cost may be influenced by the $80 price tag of the full Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World and Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV, compared to their original Switch versions, which are priced at $59.99 each.

Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders commenced on April 24, with the console priced at $449.99. The high demand led to a swift sell-out, and Nintendo has cautioned U.S. customers who pre-ordered via the My Nintendo Store that delivery on the release date is not guaranteed.
