Despite this potentially higher price point than the original Switch, analysts anticipate a massive launch, possibly the biggest console launch ever. This strong launch is fueled by anticipated high demand for its launch lineup. Analyst Serkan Toto expects a new Mario Kart (as hinted by Nintendo), a new 3D Mario game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Metroid Prime 4, and Call of Duty from Activision within the first year. Furthermore, a substantial list of rumored third-party titles is expected. Firaxis, developer of Civilization 7, found the Switch 2's Joy-Con mouse mode "definitely intriguing." Nacon, a publisher of titles like Greedfall 2, Test Drive Unlimited, and RoboCop: Rogue City, confirms it has Switch 2 games ready. Hollow Knight: Silksong is also rumored for the Switch 2, and EA expressed interest in bringing Madden, FIFA, and The Sims to the platform. Note that Activision's and Nintendo's official statements on these plans are still pending.

A June 2025 release date is gaining traction in both online and industry circles. Robin Zhu of Sanford C. Bernstein predicts a launch with 6-8 million units, suggesting potential record-breaking sales exceeding those of the original Switch and PlayStation 4 and 5.
