Nintendo Switch 2 Brings Major Quality-of-Life Upgrade With Second USB-C Port

The Nintendo Switch 2 is finally official, and its reveal showcased some exciting features. Beyond the new Joy-Cons (with their intriguing optical mouse functionality), a subtle yet significant improvement caught many by surprise: the addition of a second USB-C port.

The original Switch's single, bottom-mounted USB-C port often proved problematic. Using multiple accessories necessitated clunky, often unreliable adapters, some of which even risked damaging the console due to the Switch's unique, non-standard USB-C implementation. This proprietary specification required reverse engineering before third-party docks and accessories could function reliably.

The Switch 2's dual USB-C ports—one on the top and one on the bottom—suggest a move towards standard USB-C compliance. This is a huge leap forward.
