Battletoads/Double Dragon, Big Run, and More!

Prepare for a nostalgic journey! Nintendo has announced four classic SNES titles from the early '90s that will join the Nintendo Switch Online library. These additions offer a variety of gameplay experiences, from intense beat-em-up action and high-octane racing to mind-bending puzzles and competitive dodgeball.

First on the list is the iconic crossover, Battletoads/Double Dragon. This thrilling beat-em-up combines the forces of the Battletoads and the Double Dragon brothers to combat the evil Dark Queen and the Shadow Warriors. Featuring five playable characters, including Billy and Jimmy Lee from Double Dragon and the amphibian trio Zitz, Pimple, and Rash from Battletoads, this game was originally released for the NES in June 1993 and later ported to the Super NES in December of the same year. Its inclusion in the Nintendo Switch Online library marks its first re-release in decades.

Next, Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen’in Shūgō!, known as Super Dodgeball in North America and Europe, brings intense dodgeball action to the forefront. Featuring Kunio-kun from the River City series, you'll compete against global teams in various settings, from indoor stadiums to outdoor beaches, each with unique challenges. This game was originally released for the Super Famicom in August 1993.

For puzzle enthusiasts, Cosmo Gang the Puzzle offers a strategic challenge reminiscent of Tetris and Puyo Puyo. The objective is to clear lines of containers and Cosmos to score points. The game includes three modes:

⚫︎ VS Mode: Engage in head-to-head battles with friends.

To succeed, align containers horizontally and utilize blue orbs to remove Cosmos. Originally launched in arcades in 1992, it was ported to the Super Famicom the following year and has since been re-released on multiple platforms, including the Wii, Wii U, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4 through the Arcade Archives series.

Finally, Big Run offers an adrenaline-pumping racing experience across the challenging African terrain. From the urban landscapes of Tripoli to the swampy regions of West Africa, you'll navigate nine grueling stages, racing against time and rivals. Success hinges on strategic choices, from selecting the right sponsor and assembling your team to managing resources effectively. Every tire blowout and engine failure is a critical moment in your race against the clock. Big Run was initially released for the Super Famicom in 1991.
