Omori Cancels Switch and PS4 Physical Release in Europe

Omori's European publisher, Meridiem Games, has announced the cancellation of the game's physical release for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in Europe. This decision has left many fans disappointed, especially those eagerly awaiting the game's availability in multiple European languages.

A Series of Unfortunate Delays

Omori's physical release in Europe faced numerous delays before its ultimate cancellation. Initially slated for March 2023, the release was postponed to December of the same year, then to March 2024, and finally to January 2025. However, Meridiem Games cited technical difficulties with multilingual European localization as the reason for the cancellation.

When asked about the specific issues with localization, Meridiem Games could not provide further details beyond their initial announcement on Twitter(X). This lack of transparency has added to fans' frustration.

The cancellation is particularly disappointing because it would have marked the first time Omori was officially available in Spanish and other European languages. Now, European fans interested in a physical copy will need to import the US version.

Omori Cancels Switch and PS4 Physical Release in Europe

Omori is a captivating RPG that follows the journey of Sunny, a young boy dealing with isolation after a traumatic event. The game seamlessly transitions between the real world and Sunny's dream world, where he assumes the persona of Omori. Originally launched on PC in December 2020, Omori expanded to Switch, PS4, and Xbox platforms in 2022. However, the game was removed from Xbox due to an inappropriate T-shirt design sold by OMOCAT in 2013, leaving Xbox players without access to this unique gaming experience.
