Palworld Crossplay Arrives Late March in Major Update

by Joseph Apr 08,2025

Palworld developer Pocketpair is gearing up for a significant update, set to launch in late March 2025. This eagerly awaited update will introduce crossplay functionality, allowing players on different platforms to enjoy multiplayer together. Additionally, the update will feature world transfer capabilities for Pals, enhancing the gaming experience. While Pocketpair shared a promotional image depicting various Palworld characters battling a formidable Pal, further details remain under wraps. John 'Bucky' Buckley, Pocketpair's Communications Director and Publishing Manager, hinted at "a few little surprises" to be included in the March update, adding to the anticipation.

This news is particularly exciting for the 32 million players who have embraced Palworld since its early access debut in January 2024. The game's 2025 content roadmap promises a robust lineup, including the crossplay update, an "ending scenario," and additional new content for this immensely popular creature-catching survival game.

Palworld made a splash upon its launch on Steam for $30 and simultaneously on Game Pass for Xbox and PC, shattering sales and concurrent player records. The overwhelming success led Pocketpair's CEO, Takuro Mizobe, to admit that the studio was unprepared for the massive profits generated by the game. In response, Pocketpair quickly moved to expand the Palworld universe, striking a deal with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment. This new venture aims to broaden the IP and bring the game to the PS5.

However, the game's success has not been without challenges. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair, alleging infringement on "multiple" patent rights and seeking an injunction and damages. In response, Pocketpair has identified the patents in question and made adjustments to how players summon Pals in the game. The studio remains steadfast, ready to defend its position in court, stating, "We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings."
