Max has unveiled an exciting new trailer for *Peacemaker Season 2*, which significantly enhances its ties to the Superman universe by introducing Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Guy Gardner right from the get-go. The trailer opens with Sean Gunn portraying Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl, who are seen interviewing John Cena's Peacemaker for a potential spot on a superhero team. The interview takes a sour turn, leaving Peacemaker visibly disheartened as he storms out of the building.

This trailer provides a fresh glimpse at these supporting characters, who are also slated to appear in James Gunn's upcoming *Superman* film. The message is clear: "Achieving peace is a team effort." *Peacemaker Season 2* is set to premiere on August 21 on Max, following the release of *Superman* on July 11, marking it as the third installment in the DCU, which kicked off with the *Creature Commandos* TV series late last year.

The new DCU, spearheaded by James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran, aims to distance itself from the critically panned DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which included films like *Justice League*, *Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice*, and *Man of Steel*. However, some continuity will be preserved, and *Peacemaker* serves as a prime example of this transition. While Season 1 was part of the DCEU, Season 2 will officially belong to the new DCU.

James Gunn has previously mentioned that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," though it's still uncertain which elements will carry over from the DCEU to the DCU. He has confirmed that all of Team Peacemaker will return with the same cast, including John Cena reprising his role as Peacemaker, joined by Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.

Gunn has also revealed that *Peacemaker Season 2* will take place after the events of *Creature Commandos* and *Superman*, with the latter's events directly impacting the series.
