Peter Parker Battles Godzilla in Epic Showdown

Marvel is diving into an exciting new crossover territory with a series of one-shot specials featuring Godzilla rampaging through their universe. Following the explosive releases of *Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1* in March and *Godzilla vs. Hulk #1* in April, *Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1* continues this thrilling series. Set in the nostalgic backdrop of the early 1980s, shortly after the events of *Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars*, this issue finds Peter Parker returning from Battleworld and dealing with the aftermath of bonding with his alien symbiote costume. Just when he thinks he's got his hands full, Godzilla comes stomping into New York, and Spider-Man must muster every bit of his newfound power to protect his city.

Penned by Joe Kelly, who is also set to helm the upcoming relaunch of *The Amazing Spider-Man*, this issue promises to be a wild ride. Nick Bradshaw, known for his work on *Wolverine and the X-Men*, brings the story to life with his illustrations, while cover art duties are shared by Bradshaw, Lee Garbett, and Greg Land.

"The second I heard that there was going to be a Godzilla x Spidey crossover set in the ‘80s, I almost leapt across the table to claim it," Kelly shared with IGN. "This book is a chance to go nuts and have a blast with two iconic characters and channel the chaos of the time period that I was actively collecting Spider-Man. Nick Bradshaw really captures the absurdity of the concept and the vibe I was going for, while at the same time giving Godzilla and Spidey (in his perfectly-normal-nothing-weird-here-black suit!) the prestige and gravity they deserve. It's a love letter served with an earth-shattering roar!”

This isn't the first time Godzilla has clashed with popular Western superheroes. DC recently released *Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong*, with a sequel on the horizon. However, while DC's series features the MonsterVerse versions of Godzilla and King Kong, Marvel's issues focus on the classic Toho incarnation of the King of the Monsters.

This announcement follows hot on the heels of IDW's *Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1*, an anthology special that will donate its proceeds to a wildfire relief charity.
