Pirate Software Removed from OnlyFangs WoW Guild

Pirate Software has been removed from the World of Warcraft streamer guild, OnlyFangs, following a disastrous run in Dire Maul North on the game's Anniversary servers. The addition of Dire Maul to these servers, introduced in November 2024, has revitalized interest in World of Warcraft Classic, although it has also led to significant Hardcore mode deaths within the OnlyFangs community, including those of members Sara and Snupy.

Prior to the official Hardcore servers launched by Blizzard in August 2023, players had already been engaging in zero-death challenges. The popularity of these servers waned until the Anniversary servers came along, which caused a shift in player base from the original Classic servers to these new environments. Many players have since faced the ultimate challenge of reaching level 60 under Hardcore conditions, but not without casualties.

The incident that led to Pirate Software's expulsion from OnlyFangs occurred during a Dire Maul North run, where the group mistakenly pulled a boss before clearing a pack of Gordok ogres. When advised to retreat and reset, Pirate Software left the group during the escape, resulting in the deaths of two guild members. Despite the possibility of staying in the guild under normal circumstances, Pirate Software refused to accept responsibility for the mishap, which led Guild Master Sodapoppin to make the decision to remove him from OnlyFangs, as confirmed by a Discord statement and multiple social media posts.

Further scrutiny of the event revealed that Pirate Software failed to use crowd control abilities effectively, such as Blizzard rank 1, which could have mitigated the situation without exhausting much mana. This criticism was highlighted by Sodapoppin during a review of the dungeon run. Additionally, fellow OnlyFangs member Mizkif suggested that threats made by Pirate Software towards other streamers post-incident also contributed to his removal. Pirate Software took to Twitter to express his belief that the situation was not managed correctly.

Since the guild's reformation on the Anniversary server Doomhowl, OnlyFangs has seen several member expulsions. As Blizzard continues to update World of Warcraft Classic with patches that restore the game to its Vanilla state, the community anticipates more challenges and potential deaths as new content, including dungeons and raids, is introduced.
