All Playable Races in Avowed

Avowed, the highly anticipated RPG, expands upon the rich fantasy world of Eora, first introduced in the Pillars of Eternity series. While Eora boasts a diverse array of races, Avowed's character creator offers a more curated selection. Let's explore the playable races available at launch.

Humans (Folk)

Humans, or Folk as they're known in-game, are the most common race in Avowed and are naturally well-represented in the character creator. As part of the broader Kith group (encompassing various sentient species), Humans offer extensive customization options. Expect a wide range of facial presets, detailed skin tone sliders, and diverse hair styles and textures, providing ample choices for creating a truly personalized character.

Elves

Elves are another playable race in Avowed. Visually similar to Humans, they are distinguished by subtly different facial structures and, of course, those iconic pointed ears.

Godlikes

While all Envoys in the game's narrative are Godlikes, players have the option to customize their character's appearance to reflect or diverge from these Godlike features. Godlike characters offer unique hair and facial features, ranging from subtle enhancements to more striking, surreal options. At launch, Avowed provides 14 Godlike facial features and four hair styles, available to all characters regardless of race or body type.

Character Customization: Gender and Body Type

Avowed offers four body types: two masculine and two feminine. These are available for both Humans and Elves. Players can also select from two masculine and two feminine voice options, and choose their character's pronouns (he/him, she/her, or they/them).

Unplayable Races

While Avowed features a diverse cast of Non-Player Characters (NPCs) representing various Kith races, not all are currently playable. Dwarves, the semi-aquatic Aumaua, and the smaller, hairy Orlans, while present in the game world, are not available as player character options at launch. However, Obsidian Entertainment may add more races in future updates or DLC.
