Pokémon GO Prepares to Unleash Galar Region
The Steely Resolve event in Pokémon GO, commencing January 21st, marks the highly anticipated arrival of Rookidee, Corvisquire, and Corviknight. This addition expands the Galar region Pokémon roster within the game.
The anticipation built following a December 2024 Dual Destiny Season loading screen subtly showcasing Rookidee and Corviknight. This pre-announcement fueled community speculation until the official reveal.
The Steely Resolve event, running from 10 am on January 21st to 8 pm on January 26th (local time), provides the first in-game encounter with this evolutionary line. The event also features:
- Dual Destiny Special Research: Offering new rewards.
- Field Research Tasks: Providing various challenges and rewards.
- Increased Spawns: Boosted appearances of Clefairy, Paldean Wooper, Carbink, and others (some with shiny possibilities).
- Magnetic Lure Modules: Attracting Pokémon like Onix, Beldum, Shieldon, and Rookidee.
- Shadow Pokémon Attack Reset: Charged TMs will allow the removal of the Frustration charged attack from Shadow Pokémon.
- A $5 Paid Timed Research: Offering additional event-exclusive content.
Corviknight Evolutionary Line Debut Details:
- Date: January 21st, 10 am to January 26th, 8 pm (local time)
- New Pokémon: Rookidee, Corvisquire, Corviknight
Event Bonuses and Encounters:
Increased wild encounters include Clefairy, Machop, Totodile, Marill, Hoppip, Paldean Wooper, Shieldon, Bunnelby, Carbink, and Mareanie (denotes shiny possibility). Raids will feature Lickitung, Skorupi, Pancham, Amaura, Deoxys (Attack and Defense Forms), Dialga, Mega Gallade, and Mega Medicham (denotes shiny possibility). 2km Eggs will contain Shieldon, Carbink, Mareanie, and Rookidee (denotes shiny possibility).
Specific evolutions during the event will yield Pokémon with unique featured attacks: Machamp (Karate Chop), Feraligatr (Hydro Cannon), Quagsire (Aqua Tail), Lickilicky (Body Slam), Corviknight (Iron Head), and Clodsire (Megahorn).
GO Battle Week: Dual Destiny (January 21st - 26th):
This concurrent event offers:
- 4x Stardust from win rewards.
- Increased daily battle sets: From 5 to 20 (100 battles total).
- Free battle-themed Timed Research: Rewarding Grimsley-inspired avatar shoes.
- Varied GO Battle League reward Pokémon stats.
Active Leagues will include Master League, Color Cup (Great League Edition), Great League, Ultra League, and Master League, all with 4x Stardust bonuses for wins.
Beyond the Corviknight debut, January's Pokémon GO events also include Shadow Raids (featuring Shadow Ho-Oh), Dynamax raids with Kanto Legendary Birds, and the return of the Community Day Classic. This makes for a busy and exciting start to the year for Pokémon GO players.
