Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Hosting Year of the Snake Mass Outbreak Event

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Snake-Themed Mass Outbreak Event

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players are slithering into a new event! A Mass Outbreak featuring Silicobra, Ekans, and Seviper is underway, celebrating the upcoming Year of the Snake. This limited-time event boosts the chances of encountering Shiny versions of these serpentine Pokémon.

The event, running from January 9th to 12th, follows a recent Shiny Rayquaza Tera Raid event that concluded 2024's Year of the Dragon. While Rayquaza is obtainable via the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, the increased Shiny odds in the Tera Raid made it a highly sought-after event.

This Snakelike Mass Outbreak offers players a chance to catch a large number of Silicobra, Ekans, and Seviper. Silicobra outbreaks occur across all land areas of Paldea, Ekans in Kitakami, and Seviper in the Terarium. Pokémon levels range from 10 to 65, scaling with player progress in the main storyline. To access the event, players must connect to the internet, access the Poke Portal via the in-game menu, and select "Get Poke Portal News."

Snakelike Mass Outbreak Event Details (January 2025):

  • Duration: January 9th - 12th (7:00 PM ET - 6:59 PM ET)
  • Featured Pokémon: Silicobra, Ekans, Seviper (increased Shiny encounter rates)
  • Location: Silicobra (all Paldea land areas), Ekans (Kitakami), Seviper (Terarium)
  • Online Connection Required: Yes

Shiny odds are increased by 0.5% before any multipliers are applied. Players can further boost their chances by using Shiny Sandwiches. For Ekans and Seviper, use a Salty or Spicy Herba Mystica with a Green Bell Pepper; for Silicobra, substitute the pepper with Ham.

The future of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet beyond this event remains uncertain, particularly with the anticipated launch of Pokémon Legends: Z-A in 2025. The Pokémon Company's plans for the Year of the Snake are yet to be revealed.
