Proxi, The Sims Creator's New Game, Unveils More Details

Will Wright, creator of The Sims, recently shared new insights into his upcoming AI-powered life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream. This highly anticipated title, first hinted at in 2018, is finally moving closer to release, with details emerging from Gallium Studio and Wright himself. Learn more about Proxi's unique approach to interactive memories.

A Deep Dive into Personal Experiences

The livestream, hosted by BreakthroughT1D (a leading T1D research organization), provided a platform for Wright to discuss Proxi's core mechanics. The game, described as an "AI life sim built from your memories," invites players to input personal memories as text. Proxi then transforms these memories into animated scenes, editable using in-game assets for a more personalized representation.

Each added memory ("mem") trains the game's AI, populating the player's "mind world"—a navigable 3D environment of hexagons. As the mind world expands, so does its population of Proxies, representing friends and family. Memories can be arranged chronologically and linked to specific Proxies, reflecting the context of each recollection. Remarkably, these Proxies are even exportable to other game platforms like Minecraft and Roblox!

Wright emphasized Proxi's goal: to create "magical connections with memories and bring them to life." This focus on personal experience, he explained, stems from a belief that "no game designer has ever gone wrong by overestimating the narcissism of their players." He playfully added, "The more I can make a game about you, the more you'll like it."

Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's website, with platform announcements expected soon.
