The new Ratatan gameplay trailer offers a thrilling preview of the game's mechanics, culminating in an epic battle against a colossal crab boss. Unveiled during IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025, the trailer from Ratatan Works perfectly encapsulates the game's unique blend of rhythm game elements and side-scrolling action.

Featuring online co-op for up to four players, the trailer showcases the chaotic fun of commanding a massive army of up to 100 characters in intense melee battles. The game's development team boasts the creative minds behind Patapon: Hiroyuki Kotani (creator) and Kemmei Adachi (original composer). Thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign launched in 2023, Ratatan is now slated for release on consoles, exceeding its initial stretch goal.

Closed Beta Commences February 27, 2025

Ratatan's closed beta test is set to begin on February 27, 2025, as announced via their Kickstarter page. Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared exciting updates, revealing that the game has surpassed 100,000 Steam wishlists and garnered positive feedback for its original soundtrack demo. While the game won't be featured in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team is prioritizing the closed beta, aiming for a refined demo release during the June Steam Next Fest.

Sakajiri outlined the closed beta's scope: players can expect access to Stage 1 initially, with Stages 2 and 3 added throughout the approximately month-long testing period. He also noted that beta code distribution details, along with the precise start date and time, will be announced on their Discord and X (formerly Twitter) channels once confirmed.

Ratatan is scheduled for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. A specific release date is yet to be announced.
