Rory McCann Unveiled as Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka at Star Wars Celebration

by Penelope May 01,2025

The Star Wars Celebration has unveiled an exciting update for fans of the Ahsoka series, showcasing Rory McCann as the new Baylan Skoll in Season 2. This comes after the unfortunate passing of Ray Stevenson, who originally portrayed the character and left a lasting impact on the series with his performance.

During the Ahsoka panel at the celebration, attendees were treated to a first-look image of McCann in the role, which you can view below.

Ray Stevenson, known for his roles in Thor, RRR, Punisher: War Zone, Rome, and more, passed away from a brief illness just three months before Ahsoka's premiere. His portrayal of Baylan was widely regarded as one of the standout elements of the series.

Ahsoka series creator Dave Filoni expressed the significant challenge that Stevenson's loss presented for the development of Season 2, praising him as "the most beautiful person on screen and off."

Filoni also shared insights into what fans can anticipate in the upcoming season, confirming the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, along with other beloved characters such as Admiral Ackbar, Zeb, and Chopper.

In our review of Ahsoka's first season, we noted that the series initially struggled to bring viewers up to speed with characters and concepts from Dave Filoni’s animated Star Wars shows. However, as the series progressed, it successfully blended rich lore, humor, and epic battles, achieving a balance that felt both classically Star Wars and refreshingly innovative.
