The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Is Here, And It's Super Thin

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, its latest flagship smartphone, during the May Unpacked event. This model, while closely resembling the earlier 2025 release of the Galaxy S25, introduces a slimmer profile that truly sets it apart.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge shares many specifications with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, including the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a 200MP camera. The key differentiator lies in its design; the S25 Edge boasts a remarkably thin 5.8mm chassis, a significant reduction from the 8.2mm thickness of the S25 Ultra. This thinner design also results in a lighter weight of just 163g.

Despite its slim profile, the Galaxy S25 Edge maintains the same impressive 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display found in the standard S25, despite sharing similar specs with the slightly larger 6.9-inch display of the S25 Ultra.

Given its large size and thin build, durability is a critical consideration. Samsung addresses this by incorporating the new Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which is touted to be more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the S25 Ultra. However, concerns linger about the phone's resilience to everyday mishaps, such as being sat on, raising questions about potential "bendgate" issues.

The Galaxy S25 Edge also inherits the "Mobile AI" suite that was introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 and enhanced in 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset enables robust on-device AI processing, enhancing privacy by reducing reliance on cloud services. Samsung's AI features include handy tools like notification and news article summarization, which can be a boon for users on the go.

Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge are now open, with the 256GB model starting at $1,099 and the 512GB model at $1,219. The phone is available in three stylish color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.

Samsung emphasizes the durability of this sleek device, and while it's an impressive claim, only time will tell if the Galaxy S25 Edge truly lives up to its promise of strength in a slim package.
