Sega Releases 'Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii' Demo

by Savannah Feb 23,2025

A free demo for Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth's spin-off, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, launches today! Available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam at 7am Pacific / 10am Eastern / 3pm UK, this demo offers a taste of the full game's action.

The demo, announced via X/Twitter, allows players to jump ahead to specific freeroam and battle areas in Honolulu and Madlantis, bypassing the game's opening. This means progress likely won't carry over to the full game, releasing February 21st on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (without a demo).

Key demo features include:

  • Exploration of Honolulu and Madlantis locations.
  • Access to "Mad Dog" and "Sea Dog" fighting styles.
  • Battles against powerful bounty enemies.
  • Four ship and deck battles in the Pirates' Coliseum.
  • New character customization options.
  • Karaoke with three selectable songs.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, following amnesiac pirate Goro Majima, is a longer spin-off than Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, boasting a 15-18 hour story. The game showcases ship combat reminiscent of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag and features the return of Taiga Saejima, hinting at deeper connections to the main series. A Kiryu Kazuma costume is available for those who sign up for email notifications or a Sega rewards program. The full game launches February 21st across all platforms.
