Semine or Hashek: Best Outcome in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2's Necessary Evil Quest

by Ava Apr 18,2025

In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the main story quest "Necessary Evil" presents players with some of the most challenging moral decisions in the game. If you're deliberating whether to side with Semine or Hashek during this quest, here's a comprehensive guide to help you make your choice.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Necessary Evil Quest Walkthrough

Once you've completed the "Back in the Saddle" quest, you can embark on "Necessary Evil." In this mission, von Bergow assigns Hans and Henry the task of gathering intelligence from Nebakov Fortress and interrogating a prisoner. The interrogation's outcome is crucial, as it will dictate whether von Bergow targets Semine or Nebakov Fortress. This walkthrough focuses on choosing Semine, where the most difficult decisions await.

Prisoner Interrogation Answers

Prisoner Interrogation in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

During the prisoner interrogation, you'll need to navigate several Speech checks. You can either use threats backed by sufficient Speech skills or resort to torture to extract the information. Here are the Speech check requirements:

  • “We’ll put in a good word for you.” (20 Impression)
  • “Istvan and I are old acquaintances.” (20 Impression)
  • “Otherwise, it’ll end badly for you.” (17 Intimidation)

After the interrogation, you'll uncover the bandit leader's identity and Semine's involvement. When reporting back to von Bergow, you can either inform him that Young Semine is collaborating with the bandits, prompting an attack on the town, or claim that no one assisted the bandits, leading to an assault on Nebakov.

Should You Attack Semine or Nebakov?

Opting to attack Semine requires you to join the party on a ride to Semine, where you'll face tougher decisions involving Hashek. Choosing to attack Nebakov means von Bergow will handle the bandits there, swiftly concluding the Necessary Evil quest.

If you prefer to avoid bloodshed at Semine, attacking Nebakov might be the better choice. However, from a moral perspective, allowing Semine to escape accountability is problematic, given the deaths caused by his actions. I chose to attack Semine, as it felt like the right decision, despite my earlier interactions with the townsfolk.

Remember, if you choose to attack Semine, you must ride with the party. Falling behind results in the town's slaughter. Accompanying them gives you a chance to aid Semine.

Should You Side With Semine or Hashek?

Decision between Semine and Hashek in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Before the party departs, you can converse with Hashek, who clearly seeks vengeance against Semine and favors a violent approach. Upon arriving at Semine, you must decide whether to support Semine or Hashek. Choose “Hashek is right” to side with Hashek, or “Olda deserves a trial” to side with Semine.

I recommend siding with Semine. Although he erred in aiding the bandits, Hashek's desire for total destruction would lead to further loss of innocent lives. Playing Henry as a morally upright character made it fitting for him to oppose Hashek's extremism.

After defeating Hashek, advise the Semines to burn their estate and flee, which will advance the quest and lead to your next objective: informing von Bergow of the events.

If you side with Hashek, the entire town will be massacred. You can also locate Olda in the tower and decide his fate—whether to spare him or hand him over to Hashek.

Should You Tell von Bergow or Let Hans Talk?

The quest concludes with Henry and Hans reporting back to von Bergow. You have the option to let Hans handle the conversation or have Henry recount the events at Semine.

I suggest remaining silent and letting Hans speak. Hans is more adept at diplomacy, ensuring both he and Henry remain in von Bergow's favor. This leads to von Bergow planning his next move against Nebakov.
