Silksong Gets Promising Steam Update This Week

by Connor Dec 08,2025

Another day brings another Hollow Knight: Silksong update on SteamDB, sending the eagerly waiting fanbase into a frenzy. Can this finally be it?

Last night, Hollow Knight: Silksong received a quiet update on Steam. SteamDB noted that one package was updated for the first time in over a year (thanks, Eurogamer). This immediately ignited a storm of speculation, with players convinced that something big is brewing. Could we see more at Summer Game Fest? Might it feature in the Xbox Showcase? Or, just maybe, could we get a surprise launch on the Nintendo Switch 2?

Fans immediately began analyzing every detail of the update for clues. While some remain cautious after past disappointments, this update feels particularly significant. Many are convinced it proves that Hollow Knight: Silksong—or at least a version of it—has officially been "uploaded to the Steam servers."

Just to make it clear... THE GAME FILES HAVE BEEN UPLOADED

"Is this real?" one fan asked with hope. "Real," the original poster confirmed.

Team Cherry has always operated on its own schedule and is famously secretive, which leaves the community piecing together every minor—and sometimes silly—detail. But now, it genuinely feels like something is on the horizon. Let’s hope we don’t have to wait much longer to find out what.

Team Cherry’s sequel remains one of the most anticipated games worldwide, having topped Steam’s wishlist charts for years. Silksong briefly appeared during Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct in April, and soon after, Team Cherry confirmed a 2025 release window, much to the relief of its incredibly patient fans. Now, with the game confirmed to be playable at Australia’s national museum of screen culture, ACMI, starting September 18th, some are speculating a launch could happen even sooner. Of course, nothing is official yet.

IGN recently shared an exclusive Silksong sprite sheet, and… well, the internet did what it does best.
