Smash Together, an unofficial dating app designed for like-minded Super Smash Bros. enthusiasts, has recently received a cease-and-desist letter just prior to its planned open beta launch. Initially scheduled to debut today, May 15, following extensive development, the project hit a snag when the official account shared a somber Yoshi meme on May 13, stating: "We got cease and desisted." The announcement came with a cryptic hint from Automaton.

Although the developers did not explicitly name the sender, it is widely assumed that the cease-and-desist originated from Nintendo due to the app’s focus on Smash Bros.

Smash Together positioned itself as the "premium dating site for Super Smash Bros. fans," offering users the ability to find their ideal "Doubles partner" both in and out of the game. Utilizing a specialized matchmaking algorithm, the app aimed to connect users with fellow players whose skill levels and preferences aligned with their own.
