Sony Issues PS5 and PS4 System Updates — Here’s What They Do

by Emma Apr 20,2025

Sony has recently rolled out updates for both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, enhancing user experience with a range of improvements.

The PS5's latest update, version 25.02-11.00.00, is a 1.3GB package that brings significant enhancements to the console. One of the key updates is the improved display of activity details on cards, ensuring that all relevant information is now fully visible. To maintain the gaming experience, potential spoilers are cleverly hidden, allowing players to enjoy their games without unwanted reveals. Additionally, the update introduces support for Unicode 16.0 emojis, adding a fun and expressive element to in-game messaging.

For parents, the update also tweaks the parental controls. When setting the restriction level to Late Teens or Older, Communication and User-Generated Content will now default to Restrict. However, if you've previously customized these settings, they will remain unchanged and be labeled as Customize. As always, Sony has also focused on the core of the system, with enhancements to the software's performance and stability, as well as improvements to the messages and usability on various screens.
