The previous generation, the Sony XM4, was already a standout, but the XM5 introduces crucial enhancements in noise cancellation and comfort. It features a second processor and twice the number of microphones dedicated to filtering out ambient noise. The redesigned earcups fit more snugly around the ears, creating a better seal for improved passive noise isolation. The noise-canceling performance is noticeably superior to the XM4 and rivals any other noise-canceling headset in its price range.

The Sony WH-1000XM5 also boasts a sleeker design with an updated headband adjustment mechanism.
