Space Marine 2 Public Test Server Launches with Major Update 7.0 Changes

by Mia May 05,2025

The public test server for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live, giving players an early glimpse into the highly anticipated Update 7.0. In a recent community post, Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive shared the preliminary patch notes for the PTS version, which include most of the features expected in the full 7.0 update. However, they cautioned that the final patch notes might differ as the team continues to refine and fix bugs.

For PC players who have access to the PTS (currently unavailable on consoles), Update 7.0 introduces a wealth of new content and enhancements. This update brings a new PvE mission titled "Exfiltration," a new secondary weapon—the Inferno Pistol, available for the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes—and the introduction of prestige ranks in PvE. Additionally, players can now enjoy private PvP lobbies.

Fans of Warhammer 40,000 will appreciate the new customization options, including fresh colors such as Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue, along with the ability to recolor Bulwark cloth and hands. PvP rewards have been boosted by 50%. The PTS also introduces new champion skins: an Imperial Fists Champion for the Tactical class and a Space Wolves Champion for the Vanguard class.

Significant balance changes are also part of Update 7.0. All classes now have an extended weapon arsenal in PvE, allowing for greater weapon choice. Notably, the Assault class can now use the Power Sword without needing mods. Players are encouraged to review the detailed patch notes to understand the full scope of weapon adjustments.

A welcome gameplay change comes to the Inferno Operation. If a player reaches the assembly area in the final stage, other players will be automatically teleported there after a notification period, addressing the issue of griefing where players could block progress by remaining outside the assembly area.

The Space Marine 2 developers have also been actively addressing community feedback. Last month, they teased the upcoming Horde mode and clarified their stance on live service elements, dispelling concerns about FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) tied to community events. Earlier in the year, Saber Interactive responded to player frustration over content scarcity, outlining future plans for the game.
