Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has tempered expectations for the eagerly awaited third film, Beyond the Spider-Verse, revealing he has yet to record his lines.

In an interview with Decider, Jerome shared that production on the anticipated finale remains on hold as the team works through various details. This aligns with expectations, as the second film followed the first by five years, arriving in 2023.

“No, not yet,” Jerome responded when asked about production progress. “We’re still sorting things out, but it’s all promising.”

Jerome had a smaller role in the second film but is poised for a larger one in the third, as spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse’s ending, he appears set to portray the main antagonist. Jerome plays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, a version of Miles who emerges as the Prowler, not Spider-Man, at the film’s close.

Unlike the series’ protagonist, this Miles faced a darker path. The radioactive spider meant for him bit the main Miles in another reality, leaving Earth-42’s Miles without powers. After his universe’s Peter Parker died, New York fell to supervillains, and Miles G. Morales became one.

The conflict between this Miles and the Spider-Man Miles will likely drive Beyond the Spider-Verse’s story, though fans face a wait to see it unfold.

According to Deadline, the earliest release is projected for 2026, though matching the previous film’s timeline could push it to 2028.
