Split Fiction Hits 2 Million Sales After Just 1 Week

by Allison Mar 16,2025

Hazelight Games' latest co-op adventure, Split Fiction, is enjoying a phenomenal launch, selling 2 million copies in its first week. Released on March 6th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, the dual-protagonist story quickly became another triumph for the studio. Hazelight celebrated this strong start on social media, expressing their amazement at the overwhelming support from both longtime fans and newcomers.

Just 48 hours after launch, Split Fiction had already sold 1 million copies. An additional million copies were sold in the following five days, highlighting the game's rapid and widespread appeal.

The game's co-op nature means the actual player count is significantly higher than the number of copies sold. This is further amplified by the Friend's Pass feature, allowing one player to purchase the game and grant free access to a friend. With continued positive social media buzz, the 2 million sales figure is expected to climb even higher.

This success mirrors that of Hazelight's previous title, It Takes Two, the 2021 Game of the Year winner. It Takes Two sold approximately 1 million copies within weeks of its March 2021 launch, eventually reaching 10 million copies by February 2023 and an impressive 20 million by October 2024.

IGN's review of Split Fiction praised it as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another."
