Squad Busters 2.0 Launches on Android Before First Anniversary!

Squad Busters is celebrating its first anniversary with the release of its monumental update, 2.0, set to launch on May 13th. Since its debut in 2024, the game hasn't quite reached the level of success that Supercell had hoped for. So, will the 2.0 update be the game-changer Squad Busters needs?

This Isn’t Just a Tweak or Two

Squad Busters 2.0 is not just a minor update; it's a complete overhaul, living up to its name as a reboot. The mechanics of battles and the way victories are achieved are undergoing significant transformations.

One of the most significant shifts is the introduction of Heroes. Players now select a Hero to lead their squad into battle. These Heroes are based on existing characters, and the stakes are high—losing your Hero means losing the match.

Combat mechanics have also been revamped. Previously, players had to stop to engage in combat, but now, movement and fighting are seamlessly integrated, leading to more dynamic, fast-paced, and intense matches.

The victory conditions are evolving as well. Instead of having to eliminate all opponents, players now only need to defeat the enemy Hero. This change has drawn comparisons to Brawl Stars, with some fans questioning if Squad Busters is veering too close to that style of gameplay.

Squad Busters 2.0 Is Dumping a Lot of Old Features

Several game modes are being removed in this update, including Doppelgangers, Double Trouble, Epic Overload, Loot Machines, and Hatchling Herder. Additionally, some old skins and progression systems will no longer be available. Supercell plans to compensate players with Hero Points and other in-game items.

It's clear why Supercell is pushing these major changes so quickly. Squad Busters has yet to achieve the same level of popularity as other Supercell hits like Clash of Clans or Brawl Stars.

With the first anniversary approaching on May 29th, Supercell is aiming to reignite player interest. The update coincides with a series of daily piñata events that will start soon, offering players the chance to unlock a new Hero, Mortis.

You can download Squad Busters 2.0 from the Google Play Store and experience these exciting changes firsthand.
