Star Wars Game Unveils Newcomer

Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles features a surprising playable character: Jar Jar Binks. A new trailer showcases Jar Jar wielding a large staff, engaging in combat with enemies, and utilizing his characteristically chaotic vocalizations. This addition to the already diverse roster is a significant surprise for fans of the original 2000 release.

The remastered Jedi Power Battles aims to recapture the nostalgia of the original while adding new content. Besides lightsaber color customization and cheat code support, the game boasts an expanded cast of playable characters. Jar Jar Binks is only the latest reveal, with nine other new characters already confirmed and more on the horizon.

The newly announced characters offer a variety of options:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Rodian
  • Flame Droid
  • Gungan Guard
  • Destroyer Droid
  • Ishi Tib
  • Rifle Droid
  • Staff Tusken Raider
  • Weequay
  • Mercenary

This diverse group includes familiar faces like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, alongside various droid types. The inclusion of both Jar Jar Binks and the Gungan Guard highlights the game's commitment to expanding the playable Gungan options.

With the launch of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles scheduled for January 23rd, fans can soon experience these new additions firsthand. Aspyr's prior experience remastering other classic Star Wars titles, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, suggests a potential for a well-executed and nostalgic update to Jedi Power Battles. Pre-orders are currently available.
