Stardew Honey: Sweet Success in the Valley

by Nova Feb 12,2025

This Stardew Valley guide delves into the often-overlooked world of honey production, a surprisingly lucrative artisan venture. While farming and animal husbandry are central, crafting artisanal goods like honey significantly boosts profits. This guide covers everything from building bee houses to maximizing honey yields and profitable uses. Updated January 9, 2025, to reflect version 1.6 updates.

Bee House

Bee House Construction:

Honey production hinges on the Bee House, unlocked at Farming Level 3. Each requires:

  • 40 Wood
  • 8 Coal
  • 1 Iron Bar
  • 1 Maple Syrup

Alternatively, obtain one by completing the Fall Crops Bundle or as a Prize Counter reward. Place Bee Houses outdoors (farm, forest, quarry) for honey production every 3-4 days (excluding winter). Ginger Island allows year-round production. Moving a Bee House with an axe or pickaxe drops any ready honey. Note: Bee Houses are unproductive in the Greenhouse.

Flower Variety

Flowers and Honey Types:

Proximity to flowers dictates honey type and value. Within five tiles, flowers (including those in Garden Pots) influence honey quality:

Honey Type Base Sell Price Artisan Sell Price
Wild Honey 100g 140g
Tulip Honey 160g 224g
Blue Jazz Honey 200g 280g
Sunflower Honey 260g 364g
Summer Spangle 280g 392g
Poppy Honey 380g 532g
Fairy Rose Honey 680g 952g

(Artisan prices reflect the 40% bonus from the Farming Level 10 Artisan profession.) Harvesting nearby flowers reverts honey to Wild Honey.

Mead

Honey Uses:

Higher-value honeys are best sold directly. Wild Honey and cheaper varieties serve other purposes:

  • Mead: Use a Keg to produce Mead, further enhanced by aging in a Cask. Honey type doesn't affect Mead's value.
    • Normal: 200g (280g Artisan)
    • Silver: 250g (350g Artisan)
    • Gold: 300g (420g Artisan)
    • Iridium: 400g (560g Artisan)
  • Crafting: Combine Honey, Hardwood, and Fiber to create a Warp Totem: Farm (Farming Level 8).
  • Community Center: Honey fulfills the Artisan Bundle.
  • Gifting: Honey is a well-liked gift for most villagers (except Maru and Sebastian). Mead is also popular, but avoid giving it to children, Penny, or Sebastian.

This comprehensive guide empowers you to establish a thriving honey operation in Stardew Valley, significantly boosting your income and farm aesthetics. Remember to utilize the Artisan profession for maximum profits.
