Suicide Squad's failure is still affecting Rocksteady. Another wave of layoffs at the studio

Rocksteady Studios, the creator of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, announced further layoffs in late 2024, impacting programmers, artists, and testers. This follows September's layoffs, which halved the testing team's size.
The studio has struggled with the game's poor reception and substantial financial losses, estimated by Warner Bros. at approximately $200 million. No further updates are planned for 2025, though servers will remain active.
These cuts weren't isolated to Rocksteady; Games Montreal, another Warner Bros. studio, also experienced significant layoffs (99 employees) in December.
The game's early access launch exacerbated the situation. Players encountered numerous bugs, including server outages and a major plot spoiler. Negative reviews from prominent gaming publications contributed to a massive 791% surge in refund requests, according to McLuck analytics.
Rocksteady's future projects remain unannounced.
