"Switch 2 Launch Games Predictions"
With the highly anticipated release of the Nintendo Switch 2 on the horizon, speculation about the launch day lineup is rife. While an official list has yet to be revealed, let's dive into some educated guesses and hopeful predictions about what might be available when we first power up the new console.
Nintendo has a rich catalog of iconic franchises, and it's almost a given that some of these will make an appearance at launch. We're also crossing our fingers for the debut of new titles from acclaimed indie developers, adding a fresh twist to the launch day festivities.

While it's a stretch to expect all these games to be ready for the Switch 2's launch, even a handful would make for an exciting start. Here's what we're hoping (and dreaming) Nintendo might have planned for us.
Mario Kart 9
It's been over a decade since Mario Kart 8 graced the Wii U, evolving into the definitive karting experience with its deluxe version on the Switch, enhanced by numerous DLCs that expanded the track selection to an impressive 96 circuits. Its success as the best-selling game on both consoles underscores the potential blockbuster status of its sequel.
Rumors of Mario Kart 9 being in development with a "new twist" since 2022 have fans buzzing. If Mario Kart 8 celebrated the series' history, we're eager for its successor to push boundaries with innovative features. A launch alongside the Switch 2 could cement its status as a system seller.
New 3D Super Mario
Given the legacy of titles like Super Mario 64 and Mario Galaxy, it's surprising the Switch only saw one new 3D Mario game: Super Mario Odyssey in 2017. The lack of significant DLC for Odyssey left fans wanting more.
The Switch 2's launch presents the perfect opportunity for a new 3D Mario adventure, brimming with inventive gameplay mechanics, creative level design, and the charm that only Mario can deliver. While wishing for both a new Mario Kart and a 3D Mario on the same day might be ambitious, having one shortly after the other would be a strong statement from Nintendo.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Metroid fans have been eagerly awaiting Metroid Prime 4 since its announcement in 2017. After a development shift from Bandai Namco to Retro Studios, the game reemerged in 2024 as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, with a gameplay trailer that hinted at the Switch 2's capabilities.
The long wait could culminate at the Switch 2's launch, offering fans a chance to dive into the next chapter of Samus Aran's adventures on day one.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Enhanced
The original Switch's standout titles, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, are likely candidates for the Switch 2. Backward compatibility might bring them over, but we're hoping for enhanced versions that leverage the new console's rumored power, delivering Hyrule in breathtaking 4K with smoother performance.
Ring Fit Adventure 2
Nintendo's penchant for unique launch titles could see the debut of Ring Fit Adventure 2. The original transformed home fitness into a captivating RPG experience, selling over 15 million copies. A sequel could showcase the Switch 2's innovative motion controls, blending fun and fitness in a new way.
Resident Evil 4 Remake
While the original Switch couldn't handle the graphical demands of the Resident Evil 4 remake, the Switch 2 might be up to the task. Launching with this acclaimed title would not only demonstrate the console's power but also pay homage to the game's origins on the GameCube.
Doom: The Dark Ages
Though a long shot, Doom: The Dark Ages on the Switch 2 could be a reality, given the franchise's previous Switch appearances and Microsoft's cross-platform approach. More details are expected at the Xbox Developer Direct, and a Switch 2 launch could be a thrilling prospect for fans looking to "rip and tear" on the go.
The Haunted Chocolatier
Stardew Valley's success on the Switch sets a precedent for indie gems. The Haunted Chocolatier, the upcoming game from Stardew's developer ConcernedApe, could be a perfect fit for the Switch 2's launch. Despite the solo developer's recent focus shift, a launch year release would be a sweet treat for gamers.
Earthblade
Following the success of Celeste, Earthblade from Extremely OK Games could grace the Switch 2 at launch. With a projected release in 2025, this "2D explor-action" game with stunning pixel art could be the indie highlight we're all hoping for.
