Top Khonshu Decks for Marvel Snap Revealed

Discard players, rejoice! Khonshu, the God of the Moon, has made his grand entrance into *Marvel Snap*, bringing a game-changing tool for discard-centric decks. This card, one of the most intricate released by Second Dinner to date, deserves a closer look to understand how Khonshu can revolutionize your gameplay.

How Khonshu Works in Marvel Snap

Khonshu is a 6-cost, 5-power card with a unique ability: "When discarded, returns in its next phase. On Reveal: Resurrect a card you discarded to another location with its Power set to 5." As Khonshu evolves, he transforms into:

  • Next phase: A 6-cost, 8-power card. "When discarded, returns in its final phase. On Reveal: Resurrect a card you discarded to another location with its Power set to 8."
  • Final phase: A 6-cost, 12-power card. "On Reveal: Resurrect a card you discarded to another location with its Power set to 12."

Each time Khonshu is discarded, he returns to your hand and upgrades, enhancing his On Reveal effect. This mechanic echoes that of Apocalypse, aiming to discard Khonshu one or two times before playing him on the final turn to resurrect a card like Iron Man or Gorr the God Butcher, significantly boosted in power. While Khonshu can't choose which card to revive, dropping a 12-power final phase Khonshu on turn 6 to bring back a 1-cost, 12-power Meek can often clinch victory.

Best Day One Khonshu Decks in Marvel Snap

Finding the perfect deck for Khonshu will require experimentation, as he may not seamlessly fit into traditional discard strategies. Initially, I envision Khonshu working well in a Darkhawk-style Stature deck, alongside alternative discard-type decks. Here's an example of the former:

  • Korg
  • Blade
  • Fenris Wolf
  • Juggernaut
  • Moon Knight
  • Lady Sif
  • Rock Slide
  • Silver Samurai
  • Darkhawk
  • Black Bolt
  • Stature
  • Khonshu

This deck includes only one Series 5 card, Fenris Wolf, which is crucial for resurrecting an opponent's discarded card, often a key to victory. The strategy is to fill the opponent's deck with rocks, boosting Darkhawk while maximizing Khonshu's discards. Moon Knight, Silver Samurai, and Black Bolt help achieve this, with the timing of discards being critical to ensure Khonshu, not Rock Slide, is hit by Moon Knight. Play Stature early, then Darkhawk on turn 5, and Khonshu on turn 6 to revive a card with enhanced power.

While Khonshu may not easily slot into traditional discard decks alongside Apocalypse due to cost constraints, an alternative list with energy ramp via Corvus Glaive could work:

  • Miek
  • Scorn
  • Blade
  • Morbius
  • Swarm
  • Moon Knight
  • Corvus Glaive
  • Lady Sif
  • Dracula
  • MODOK
  • Khonshu
  • Apocalypse

Scorn, the only Series 5 card, can be swapped for other discard activators like Colleen Wing or X-23 for more energy ramp. This deck relies on playing Corvus Glaive on turn 3 to set up Khonshu's discard alongside other activators, aiming to power up Apocalypse and flood the board. Whether this hybrid approach outperforms traditional discard decks remains to be seen, but with Moon Knight, Blade, and Lady Sif, Khonshu should reach his final phase, keeping Apocalypse strong for Dracula to absorb.

Is Khonshu Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector’s Tokens?

Khonshu stands out as both powerful and intriguing, regardless of your affinity for discard decks. He is likely to become a staple in hybrid discard lists and could very well become meta-relevant. If you have the resources, investing in Khonshu is a wise decision, promising to enrich your Marvel Snap experience with his unique mechanics and strategic depth.
