"Tribe Nine Shuts Down EOS Globally Just Months After Launch"
Akatsuki Games has recently announced the end of service (EOS) for their latest game, Tribe Nine. Launched just a few months ago in February on Android, iOS, and PC (Steam), the news of its closure is quite surprising. Let's dive into the details to understand why the game is facing an early demise.
When Is the Tribe Nine EOS?
Tribe Nine will officially shut down on November 27th, 2025. Alongside the shutdown announcement, Akatsuki Games has confirmed that Chapter 4 of the main story will not be released. This comes as a disappointment, especially since the game had recently started teasing what was to come. As of May 15th, all new updates, features, bug fixes, and content releases have been halted. This means that any previously announced adjustments or new features won't see the light of day.
Two anticipated characters, Ichinosuke Akiba and Saizo Akiba, who were set to join the roster, will no longer be added to the game. Additionally, refunds will be issued for Paid Enigma Entities used on Armed Support, Advanced Support, and the Support Contract – Revenio. These refunds will be processed once the Revenio contract concludes.
Purchasing Enigma Entities or Daily Passes, whether through the app or the web store, is no longer possible. However, players can continue using their existing Enigma Entities until Tribe Nine's official shutdown.
Why Did It Fail, So Soon?
Tribe Nine is a free-to-play extreme action RPG known for its unique style and worldbuilding. Despite its quality, the game struggled from the start. The release schedule was notably slow, with only one story chapter and one event released over three months. Furthermore, there was little incentive for players to spend money. Players could build a strong team with just one pull, and duplicates were not necessary, which was beneficial for players but detrimental to the developers' revenue.
It appears that adopting a gacha model was a risky move for Tribe Nine, and unfortunately, it did not succeed. Despite this, the game remains playable until November 27th, 2025. If you haven't tried it yet, you can check it out on the Google Play Store.
