Ubisoft Details Character Customization and Progression in Assassin's Creed: Shadows
Ubisoft has unveiled new details about the gameplay mechanics of Assassin's Creed: Shadows, specifically highlighting the equipment and progression systems for Yasuke and Naoe. A key feature is a significantly enhanced Hidden Blade, sure to excite fans.
Yasuke and Naoe each boast unique skill trees reflecting their distinct fighting styles: Yasuke’s focuses on samurai techniques, while Naoe’s emphasizes shinobi skills. Skill points unlock weapon-specific abilities and refine combat styles. Players earn mastery points by completing open-world activities and defeating challenging enemies, such as Daisyo samurai.
The game ensures balanced character progression, preventing one character from outpacing the other. Unlocking powerful abilities often requires specific actions, such as tracking down a mysterious shinobi group. Other upgrades are linked to the "Knowledge" scale, which increases by studying manuscripts or praying at shrines. Reaching Knowledge rank six unlocks a new skill tree.
The equipment system features five quality tiers: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Gear can be upgraded by a blacksmith and visually customized. Special armor and weapon perks can dramatically alter gameplay.
The iconic Hidden Blade returns, retaining its ability to instantly eliminate enemies with a single strike. Assassin's Creed: Shadows launches worldwide on March 20th for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
