Hyper Light Breaker Character Guide: Unlocking and Playstyles

Hyper Light Breaker offers diverse gameplay through its roster of characters, known as Breakers. This guide details how to unlock new Breakers and outlines the unique playstyles of each. Note that this information reflects the early access version; the unlock method may change with future updates.

How to Unlock New Characters

To unlock new Breakers, you'll need Abyss Stones, obtained by defeating Crowns (bosses). Access Crown arenas using Prisms, indicated by golden diamond icons on the map. After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost teleporter and select the Breaker you wish to unlock using your accumulated Abyss Stones. Currently, only two Breakers are unlockable via this method.

All Breakers and Their SyComs

Each Breaker starts with a SyCom, defining their base stats and core abilities. These SyComs significantly impact their playstyle.

Vermillion

• Default SyCom: Gunslinger: Favors ranged combat; critical hits guarantee a subsequent critical hit.
• Unlockable SyCom: Tank: Rewards perfect parries with increased armor; boasts superior defensive and melee stats.

Lapis

• Default SyCom: Lightweaver: Boosts Rail shot damage after collecting a Battery.
• Unlockable SyCom: Warrior: Increases core stats with each upgrade, making her exceptionally powerful late-game.

Goro

• Default SyCom: Astrologer: Accelerates Blade skill charge while firing.
• Unlockable SyCom: Sniper: Significantly increases critical hit rate, making him a high-risk, high-reward ranged damage dealer.
