World of Warcraft Patch 11.1 Adding Two New Types of Races

World of Warcraft Patch 11.1 introduces thrilling new races: Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. and Skyrocket races. These replace traditional Skyriding races in the new Undermine zone.

Undermine, a vast subterranean Goblin city, prohibits flying. Instead, players navigate using the customizable D.R.I.V.E. vehicle, offering a faster alternative to Skyriding. Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. races fully utilize this high-speed ground transportation.

Complementing the ground-based races are the innovative Skyrocket races. These utilize Goblin jetpacks for aerial maneuvering. Unlike traditional flight, players cannot hover, but maintain momentum and altitude, creating a unique challenge. Collecting rings boosts speed, but reduces maneuverability, adding a layer of complexity.

Skyrocket and Breakneck Race Types:

Both race types offer a variety of courses, each with Bronze, Silver, and Gold time achievements. Interestingly, reverse versions of all courses exist, but advanced or challenge modes are absent.

Player reception to the Skyrocket races has been varied. While anticipation is high, some find the jetpack controls less responsive than Skyriding. As Patch 11.1 is still under development, refinements are expected before the February release.
