Wuthering Waves: How To Defeat The Lifer
Conquer the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide
Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord found in the Rinascita region's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide details how to overcome this formidable foe.
Locating the Lifer
The Lifer resides in Oakheart Highcourt's maze center, beneath a giant tree. An accessible entrance is located southwest, near the Resonance Beacon. Players can climb or use the Flight function to reach it.
The Lifer's Board Game
The Lifer is positioned beside a board game with six pieces. Players control black, the Lifer white. Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens maze walls/gates in that direction. The game isn't mandatory for combat but is crucial for buff removal. Avoid winning before debuffing the Lifer.
Removing the Lifer's Buffs
The Lifer possesses seven buffs; four are removable using Stakes of Imbalance, three are permanent. The buffs are visible on a yellow module behind the Lifer.
Removable Buffs (using Stakes of Imbalance):
- Growing Loneliness: 10% Max HP recovery per second after 2s of inactivity.
- Desire for Escape: 25% ATK increase; additional 25% DMG increase every 20s.
- Impending Stalemate: 20% ATK increase per DMG instance (stacks to 4); resets after 6s without DMG.
- Decay of Time: 200% resistance to all element types; 25% Max HP increase.
Permanent Buffs:
- Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
- Endless Game: 50% reduced Immobilization duration.
- Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP DMG in a single hit.
Obtaining Stakes of Imbalance:
Use the Sensor near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the corresponding gates. Each room contains a Stake of Imbalance (marked with a white glow), often requiring minor challenges (defeating Discords, breaking rocks). Place each Stake in the module near the room's winged statue to remove a buff; the line will turn yellow upon success.
Defeating the Lifer

After removing the four removable buffs, engage the Lifer. Winning the board game or selecting "Fight it out!" initiates combat. The debuffed Lifer is significantly weaker.
Rewards for defeating the Lifer:
- First victory: Premium Supply Chest
- Second victory: Premium Supply Chest + three Basic Supply Chests
- Third victory: Advanced Supply Chest + three Standard Supply Chests
Buffs can be re-enabled for a greater challenge, though no achievements are tied to this.
Lifer Achievements:
- The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
- The Ring of The Lifer: Defeat the Lifer three times (all nine chests).
- Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
- Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.
For the board game, focus on blocking the Lifer's winning attempts; it will eventually make a mistake.
