Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: Stream Select Games on Consoles Now

by Thomas May 04,2025

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members now have access to an exciting new perk: the ability to stream games directly to their Xbox consoles without the need to download them. This feature, announced in a recent Xbox Wire news post, allows members to stream games from the Game Pass catalog and select owned games on their Xbox Series X, S, and Xbox One consoles via cloud streaming.

Previously, this cloud streaming option was available on smart TVs, PCs, smartphones, and Meta Quest headsets, but this marks the first time it's been extended to Xbox consoles. This advancement is a game-changer for players looking to save time on downloads and conserve hard drive space.

To get started with streaming on an Xbox console, follow these simple steps:

  • Go to My games & apps > Full library > Owned Games.
  • Games that are available for cloud streaming will have a cloud badge on their page. Use the Filter option, select Ready to play > Cloud gaming to find these games more easily.
  • Select the game you want to play and choose Play with Cloud Gaming to start streaming.
  • You can also begin streaming directly from the Store app after purchasing select cloud-playable games.

On the flip side, if you have games installed on your Xbox, you can now stream them to devices with supported web browsers using this link. Note that this feature is no longer supported on the Xbox mobile app but remains available on phones via the provided browser link. Xbox is also working to extend this functionality to Samsung and Amazon Fire smart TVs, as well as Meta Quest headsets.

Additionally, Xbox announced that starting this month, Xbox and Xbox 360 backward compatible games will also support remote play, further enhancing the flexibility of gaming across different devices.
